Samuel is from Seattle, Washington. He joined the Milwaukee Symphony as Assistant Principal/Second Trombone in September, 2010. Previously he served as Principal Trombone of the Symphony in C in Camden, NJ, and performed as a sub/extra with the Philadelphia Orchestra while pursuing a Bachelor’s of Music degree at the Curtis Institute of Music, studying with Nitzan Haroz. He began playing trombone in elementary school in Seattle, focusing primarily on jazz until high school, and attended the San Francisco Conservatory of Music for one year, studying with Mark Lawrence, before moving to Philadelphia. He has been a finalist for principal trombone positions with the Vancouver and National Symphony Orchestras, and, during summers between school years, attended the Pacific Music Festival, National Orchestral Institute, Music Academy of the West, and the Tanglewood Music Center.
